Union Pacific Railroad recently recognized 138 shippers with its 2025 Pinnacle Award for their dedication and commitment to safely transporting chemicals by rail.
The Class I bestows the honor annually to customers that implement release prevention protocols and corrective action plans, and register zero non-accidental releases of regulated hazardous materials in their shipments.
The railroad aims to safely transport every tank car every day through a four-prong mission: prevention, preparedness, response and recovery, UP officials said in a press release. The Class Is’ hazmat safety team supports customers with joint rail safety training programs and rail-car inspections.
The Pinnacle Award recipients set the standard for safely shipping hazardous materials, said Kenny Rocker, UP's executive vice president of marketing and sales.
“Safety is a shared responsibility, and these customers show a strong commitment to protecting communities while keeping the rail network moving safely,” he said.
