UP honors 138 shippers for hazmat safety efforts

Union Pacific Railroad recently recognized 138 shippers with its 2025 Pinnacle Award for their dedication and commitment to safely transporting chemicals by rail.  

The Class I bestows the honor annually to customers that implement release prevention protocols and corrective action plans, and register zero non-accidental releases of regulated hazardous materials in their shipments. 

The railroad aims to safely transport every tank car every day through a four-prong mission: prevention, preparedness, response and recovery, UP officials said in a press releaseThe Class Is’ hazmat safety team supports customers with joint rail safety training programs and rail-car inspections. 

The Pinnacle Award recipients set the standard for safely shipping hazardous materialssaid Kenny Rocker, UP's executive vice president of marketing and sales.  

“Safety is a shared responsibility, and these customers show a strong commitment to protecting communities while keeping the rail network moving safely,” he said.
