Emons Transportation Group Inc. June 25 promoted Assistant Controller Jay O'Keefe to controller.
O'Keefe now will oversee preparation of the short-line holding company's external financial and internal management reports, as well as prepare Emons' budget, and maintain its records and financial systems.
He will report to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Scott Ziegler, who held the controller position since 1993.
"Jay will have authority over the day-to-day accounting functions, allowing me to focus more on strategic initiatives — including acquisitions — and developing financial strategies for the company," said Ziegler in a prepared statement.
Prior to joining Emons in 1996, O'Keefe served as an accounting manager for Hanover Direct and as a senior auditor for Arthur Andersen LLP.
