OmniTRAX Inc. has named Phillip Hoskins vice president of transload, a role in which he will oversee network-wide expansion of transload activities across OmniTRAX's 35 rail operations. His appointment follows a $100 million commitment from OmniTRAX's real estate affiliate, Broe Real Estate Group, to grow the companies' rail real estate platform into a national network of industrial outdoor storage and multimodal logistics hubs. Hoskins comes to OmniTRAX from Savage Services, and he previously worked for BNSF Railway for 16 years in field operations, commercial sales and business development in the energy-by-rail markets, OmniTRAX officials said in a press release.
Alpenglow Rail Services Corp. has hired Kyle Schornick as chief financial officer to succeed Alpenglow co-founder Henning von Kalm in a planned leadership transition. Following the transition, von Kalm will hold an advisory role with the company. He cofounded Alpenglow alongside CEO Rich Montgomery and Chief Strategy Officer Josh Huster, serving as CFO as Alpenglow grew its portfolio to six terminals across Canada and the Gulf Coast, Alpenglow officials said in a press release. Schornick previously was CFO at USD Group LLC, where he led corporate finance, capital finance, capital markets, investor relations and strategic planning.
The Montreal Port Authority has appointed Paul Bird president and CEO, effective June 8. Bird joined the port authority in 2020 as senior director of the Contrecoeur terminal expansion project and later served as chief commercial officer until March this year. His return comes as the authority advances the Contrecoeur project under a CA$1.16 billion loan from the Canada Infrastructure Bank, port officials said in a press release.
Urban Engineers Inc. has appointed Gerald Arters as vice president, northeast director of construction. Arters brings more than 36 years of engineering and construction experience to the role, including leadership of projects for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, the Delaware River & Bay Authority and the New Jersey Department of Transportation, Urban Engineers officials said in a press release.
Michael Baker International has named Mike Roberts vice president, California transportation practice lead. In his new role, Roberts will lead growth, client engagement and project delivery across the state. Roberts brings 30 years of transportation, civil engineering, design, management and project leadership experience, including prior roles with Moffatt & Nichol, Mott MacDonald and Parsons Transportation Group. The company has also hired Marin Pastar as digital practice executive. Pastar will lead digital transformation and digital project delivery for Michael Baker's multidisciplinary architecture and engineering teams. He joins the company from Jacobs.
