Metrolink elects Morris chairman to succeed Katz

The Southern California Regional Rail Authority's board, which governs Metrolink, has elected San Bernardino Mayor Pat Morris as chairman.

Morris succeeds Richard Katz, who had been Metrolink's chairman since 2011.

Morris, who represents the San Bernardino Association of Governments, has served on the Metrolink board since 2006. He has been "instrumental" in plans to extend Metrolink's San Bernardino Line to Redlands, as well as the development of a multi-modal transit center in downtown San Bernardino, authority officials said in a prepared statement.

The board also elected Orange County Transportation Authority representative Michael Hennessey vice chairman and Riverside County Transportation Commission member and Perris Mayor Daryl Busch, second vice chairman.
