PATH logs second-busiest month of ridership since pandemic

The Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) commuter railroad logged 5.2 million passengers in April, the second highest month of ridership since 2019, or before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ridership number was second to October 2024's 5.7 million passengers, according to a Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) press release.
PATH's April ridership was 11% higher than in April 2024. Also, PATH reported a weekly ridership average above 200,000 passengers for the third time since the onset of the pandemic, a 12% increase compared to April 2024's ridership.
In total, PATH carried 18.7 million passengers during the first four months of 2025, a 7% increase from the same period in 2024.
A PANYNJ subsidiary, PATH serves as the primary transit link between Manhattan and neighboring New Jersey communities and suburban commuter railroads.
Meanwhile, the port recorded handling 751,194 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during April, a 6% increase from volume in April 2024. In total, PANYNJ handled 2,954,913 TEUs during the first four months of the year, up 9% from the same period in 2024.
