NYC Transit begins testing CBTC-equipped subway cars


New York City Transit Dec. 4 launched a 30-day test run of Kawasaki Rail Car Inc.-supplied R-143 subway cars, which are equipped with a communications-based train control system.

NYC Transit ordered 212 CBTC-equipped cars from Kawasaki and is testing the cars on its "L" line.
