VIP Rail, a subsidiary of Alpenglow Rail, has completed work on a new rail yard at its Sarnia, Ontario, terminal, adding 750 rail-car spots and bringing the facility’s total capacity to more than 2,150 spots.
Located in Ontario’s Chemical Valley, one of Canada’s largest refining and petrochemical markets, the terminal provides rail-car storage, switching, transloading, cleaning and repair services. The expanded capacity of the new yard gives customers greater ability to manage railcar fleets, stage equipment closer to operations and respond to changing production, transportation and inventory requirements, VIP officials said in a press release.
“Sarnia is exactly the type of market where we want to continue investing,” said Josh Huster, chief strategy officer of Alpenglow Rail. “It has a strong concentration of refining and petrochemical customers, established rail infrastructure and continued demand for flexible third-party rail solutions. This expansion builds on an already strong operation and gives us additional capacity to support both existing customers and future growth in the region.”
