Wabtec Corp. has signed a more than $700 million long-term service agreement with Compagnie du TransGuineen (CTG) to support its fleet of Wabtec ES43AC locomotives. CTG is a joint venture of Simfer Infraco Guinée and WCS Infraco, as well as the government of Guinea, that is leading the development of a 373-mile rail line between the Simandou mine to the Port of Morebaya. The agreement is Wabtec's largest services contract in Africa and, combined with the 2024 locomotive order, brings Wabtec's total contract value for the Simandou project to more than $1.2 billion, Wabtec officials said in a press release. The Simandou rail line will be a critical transportation corridor for one of the world's largest untapped reserves of high-grade iron ore, as well as passengers and non-mining goods, Wabtec officials said.

The Greenbrier Cos. Inc. received orders for 3,400 new rail cars at an aggregate value of about $600 million during its fiscal fourth-quarter 2026, which ended Aug. 31. The orders span multiple car types and end markets, including 780 rail cars for the Saudi Arabian government-owned SAR, Greenbrier officials said in a press release. The SAR order includes tank cars for transporting phosphoric acid and molten sulfur, as well as SAR's first order of Greenbrier intermodal rail cars. The double-stack intermodal cars are designed to maximize freight efficiency while maintaining a lower center of gravity. Tank cars formed from U.S. steel were manufactured in Mexico and are now being shipped. "The SAR award is a powerful example of our ability to deliver specialized equipment tailored to a customer’s operating needs, while extending proven Greenbrier technology into global markets," said Brian Comstock, Greenbrier executive vice president and president, the Americas. 

Plasser & Theurer Group is consolidating its track diagnostics services under a new brand, Plasser Diagnostics. The new brand's portfolio includes high-prevision measuring of track geometry and position, turnout measuring under lead and dynamic forces, video and radar technologies, and non-destructive ultrasonic testing of rails, Plasser & Thuerer officials said in a press release. One of Plasser Diagnostics' strengths is its connection to the Plasser & Theurer machine fleet worldwide, as the company's maintenance machines equipped with intelligent systems can serve as additional sources of data. "Added value is created when data leads to better decisions. Our customers want to know which defects are safety-relevant, how the condition of their infrastructure is changing and where maintenance can extend the service life of their infrastructure assets. That is precisely what we provide at Plasser Diagnostics: a reliable basis for decision making," said Stefan Damm, managing director of Plasser Diagnostics

Accenture and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) have signed an agreement to distribute SBB's rail control system (RCS) worldwide. The agreement builds on more than a decade of collaboration between SBB and Accenture, during which Accenture helped SBB develop and enhance the traffic management platform and implement it across Switzerland, Accenture officials said in a press release. Accenture will distribute RCS and lead its implementation, integration, testing, training and support for railroads adopting the platform, and SBB will retain ownership of RCS, company officials said. The collaboration combines SBB's experience operating a complex, high-density railway system with Accenture's technology, systems integration and large-scale transformation experience. RCS supports more than 10,000 train runs each day across the SBB network and is designed to work seamlessly with other railway systems and align with emerging European industry standards.
