Attention baseball fans: Construction on MTA Metro-North Railroad's new Yankees - E. 153rd Street Station is on schedule and the facility is set to open on May 23, a little more than a month after the Bronx Bombers' season begins. The station will open exactly 24 months after the design-build contract was awarded.

"Never in Metro-North history has a major station project been completed so fast," said Metro-North President Howard Permut in a prepared station."

The station will become a regular local stop on the Hudson Line. Metro-North will provide additional service to the station on game days, when 10,000 people are expected to use the facility.

During the project, Metro-North spread out the Hudson Line's four tracks to make room for two extra-wide island platforms. The station also includes a pedestrian overpass so game-goers can use riverside parking lots and still cross over tracks to access the new stadium

Meanwhile, MTA Long Island Rail Road has renamed a station that will serve the New York Mets' new Citi Field Stadium. Formerly Shea Stadium Station, the facility now will be called Mets-Willets Point Station.
