The Port of Virginia recently began offering rail service to Indianapolis via CSX to further enhance its inland reach.
The transit time for the daily service is five days. It connects port customers in Norfolk to yet another key inland distribution hub, port officials said in a LinkedIn post.
The port also offers rail service to Chicago and Decatur, Illinois; Detroit; Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri; and Front Royal, Virginia.
CSX and Norfolk Southern Railway provide on-dock rail service at the port.
