CPKC set new September and third-quarter records for transporting grain and grain products across Canada and the United States, railroad officials said in a press release.

The Class I moved 2.94 million metric tons (MMT) and 30,324 carloads of grain and grain products last month, making it the second in a row for record grain haulage during the start of the 2026-2027 crop year. During the three-month period of July-September, CPKC set a third-quarter record for Canadian grain hauled.

In the U.S., the railroad moved 2.51 MMT and 26,236 carloads of grain and grain products in September, contributing to new third-quarter record for the country.

All the new records topped previous marks set in 2020.

"These new records reflect the collective effort of CPKC railroaders, our customers and those across the grain supply chain working together with a shared commitment to service, safety and execution," said Elizabeth Hucker, CPKC's vice president of sales and marketing bulk.
