The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) has awarded $400,000 in grants to support operations at 38 small businesses along the Purple Line light-rail alignment.
The Maryland Transit Administration's Purple Line will span 16 miles and have 21 stations along an east-west corridor from New Carrollton in Prince George's County to Bethesda in Montgomery County. Construction of the Purple Line is 92% complete, and the line is set to open for passenger service by the end of 2027, MDOT officials said in a press release.
The small business grant program was created to support businesses along the alignment that are being impacted by construction. Since the start of 2025, the program has awarded 287 competitive grants totaling $3 million. Applications for the next round of small business grants are open now through Nov. 7.
