Logistec, a Montreal-based logistics provider, last week announced it has acquired Logistics Park Dubuque (LPD) in East Dubuque, Illinois, situated on the upper Mississippi River.
Previously owed by Travero, LPD is a 100-acre multimodal terminal that specializes in handling, storing and loading bulk and breakbulk commodities between barge, rail and truck services, Logistec officials said in a press release. LPD offers direct rail access via CN.
The site's connectivity will help strengthen Logistec's inland waterways network reach for agriculture, manufacturing and energy commodities across the Midwest and Gulf Coast, they added. The acquisition builds on the company's agreement in February to acquire IPA Terminal at the Port of Altamira, Mexico.
An Alliant Energy Corp. subsidiary, Travero provides freight logistics, including rail transportation, freight brokerage, warehousing and barge terminal services, said Logistec officials said.
"As Travero continues to focus on its core businesses, this transaction aligns LPD with an owner whose expertise is operating and growing logistics terminals," said Travero President Lisha Coffey. "Logistec is well-positioned to build on LPD’s momentum and support its long-term growth."
