Pinsly Railroad Co. on Jan. 20 held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the rehabilitation and return to service of a short line in southern Alabama.

Now operating under Pinsly, the Georgiana & Andalusia Railroad (GAR) extends 36 miles from Andalusia to Georgiana, Alabama, where it interchanges with CSX. It provides rail service to shippers near Andalusia, including flooring manufacturer Shaw Industries Group and polymer manufacturer Arclin, Pinsly officials said in a press release.

The line was previously operated by Three Notch Railway LLC and was out of service when Pinsly assumed operation of the line in October 2025. Following more than $6 million in infrastructure investments, the GAR on Jan. 20 delivered the first rail cars in over a year to shippers.

"This was a great opportunity to partner with Shaw, Arclin, CSX and the communities of Andalusia and Georgiana to bring customer-focused short line service back to the region,” said Cassie Dull, chief commercial officer at Pinsly, in the press release.

Joining Pinsly officials for the ceremony were local officials, community economic development leaders and representatives of shippers and CSX.
