Pinsly Railroad Co. yesterday announced its newest short line, the Georgiana & Andalusia Railroad LLC, began operations in southern Alabama.
The railroad operates a 36-mile line from a CSX connection in Georgiana to Andalusia. The line previously was operated by Three Notch Railway LLC, a former Genesee & Wyoming Inc. subsidiary.
The Georgiana & Andalusia Railroad will make significant infrastructure investments to support traffic growth in the region, Pinsly Railroad officials said in a press release.
“[We are] excited to bring [our] legacy of safety, customer service and community engagement to southern Alabama,” said Pinsly Railroad Chief Commercial Officer Cassie Dull. “We look forward to building strong partnerships and delivering reliable rail service that supports local industry and job creation.”
Headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, Pinsly Railroad has expanded its portfolio over the past three years to nine short lines. The company’s short-line roster now includes Camp Chase Railway; Chesapeake and Indiana Railroad Co.; Florida Gulf & Atlantic Railroad; Georgiana & Andalusia Railroad; Grenada Railroad; Hondo Railway; North Florida Industrial Railroad; Pioneer Valley Railroad; and Vermilion Valley Railroad Co.
