Gulf & Atlantic Railways LLC (GAR) yesterday announced it closed May 12 on its acquisition of three short lines in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.

The short-line holding company acquired Camp Chase Railroad (CAMY), Chesapeake & Indiana Railroad (CKIN) and Vermilion Valley Railroad (VVRR), all of which were previously owned by Midwest & Bluegrass Rail, GAR officials said in a press release.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The acquisitions expanded GAR's holdings from two short lines to five, adding 53 total miles to its 658-mile system.

CAMY operates along 15 miles in Columbus, Ohio, and connects with Norfolk Southern Railway and CSX. CKIN operates on 28 miles in northwest Indiana and connects with NS and CSX. VVRR extends 10 miles between Danville, Illinois, and Olin, Indiana, and connects with CSX.

Based in Jacksonville, Florida, GAR also owns and operates the Florida, Gulf & Atlantic Railroad and Grenada Railway.
