Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W) announced yesterday that Albert Neupaver and Joseph Pyne have been appointed to G&W’s board of directors, which expands the board to 13 directors, 11 of whom are independent directors.Neupaver is executive chairman of Wabtec Corp.'s board. He joined Wabtec in 2006 as president and chief executive officer before he was named chairman and CEO in 2013. In 2014, Neupaver was named executive chairman.Prior to joining Wabtec, Neupaver oversaw several divisions at AMETEK Inc. and held various engineering and operations roles at Pfizer Inc.Pyne is executive chairman of Kirby Corp. Since 1984, he has served in various roles for Kirby and its subsidiaries, including CEO, president, executive vice president and director."Al and Joe each bring more than 30 years of transportation-industry experience and are recognized leaders in their fields," said G&W Chairman Mortimer Fuller III in a press release. "We appreciate their willingness to serve as directors and look forward to benefitting from their insights and business acumen as we continue to expand our global rail business."G&W also announced that Robert Melzer, a G&W board member since 1997, intends to step down after the February 2016 meeting, and Philip Ringo, a G&W board member since 1978, will not run for re-election to the board when his term expires in May 2016.Melzer and Ringo's contributions to the company have been exceptional, Fuller said."Our board and management have the highest regard for their service. We are grateful for their commitment and pleased that they will continue awhile longer with our new directors to help preserve and transition the culture that has guided our tremendous, disciplined growth," Fuller added.
