OmniTRAX Inc. has deployed new rail safety monitoring systems on its Panhandle Northern Railroad LLC (PNR) in Texas that are designed for the area's extreme temperatures.
The Advanced Rail Condition Detector (ARCD) and TrueTemp Link are products of Athena Industrial Services. The autonomous dark territory monitoring systems detect train presence, broken rails and track temperatures, OmniTRAX officials said in a press release.
“The Panhandle’s wide-ranging winter and summer temperatures pose serious environment challenges that require 24/7 attention to maintain operational integrity,” said OmniTRAX President and COO Sergio Sabatini. “Athena continuously evaluates rail conditions, adding a vital element of infrastructure safety to keep Texas supply chains moving.”
Athena develops advanced railroad safety technologies that help prevent derailments and optimize safety. Their flagship ARCD Technology captures real-time data across freight networks to enhance rail safety, OmniTRAX officials said.

PNR operates 30 miles of track in Northern Texas and interchanges with BNSF Railway in Panhandle, Texas.
