Commodities that posted decreases included metallic ores and metals, down 10.1% to 18,501 carloads; chemicals, down 2.2% to 32,329; and petroleum and petroleum products, down 6% to 10,342.

Meanwhile, Canadian railroads logged 94,378 carloads for the week, down 0.3%, and 79,891 intermodal units, up 8.6%. Mexican railroads posted 15,479 carloads, up 24.6%, and 10,074 intermodal units, no change from the same period last year.
