CN sets monthly record for propane shipments to Watson Island

CN has reported a monthly record for propane export shipments from South Beamer, Alberta, to Watson Island, British Columbia, in May, besting the previous record set in August 2024. CN did not report a total volume carried in May but did cite a 40% increase in carloads year over year.

The strong performance was due to continued operational improvements across the supply chain including network efficiency, increased train lengths and strong execution across the corridor, rather than changes to existing commercial arrangements, CN officials said in a press release.

As demand for Canadian propane exports remains strong, CN remains committed to working closely with supply chain partners to provide safe, efficient, and reliable transportation solutions, they said.
