The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is seeking applicants for about $35 million in sustainable transportation planning grant funding.
Projects should aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance multimodal transportation and help underserved communities become more resilient to natural disasters and extreme weather, Caltrans officials said in a press release.
The Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant program is funded by Senate Bill 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, the State Highway Account, the Federal Transit Administration and the Federal Highway Administration.
The deadline for transit agencies, local governments, regional and metropolitan transportation planning organizations and Native American tribal governments to apply is Oct. 9; awards will be announced in spring 2027.
Caltrans will host application workshops starting Aug. 24 and provide technical assistance up to the application deadline. Resources and application materials can be found on the Sustainable Transportation Planning Grants website.
