advertisement
The Belgian National Railways (SNCB) recently awarded a $222 million contract to a Bombardier Transportation/ALSTOM Transport consortium to build 70 double-deck passenger cars and adapt 19 T27 electrical locomotives for push-pull operation.
The consortium will build 19 first-class, 19 multi-functional and 32 cab cars for SNCB. The order is a follow-on to a contract Bombardier and ALSTOM obtained in 1999 for 210 double-deck cars.
Delivery is scheduled between October 2006 and February 2008. Bombardier will complete final assembly of the cars and install automatic couplers on the locomotives at its Bruges, Belgium, facility.
