On June 16, Burlington Northern Santa Fe named Ron Jackson general manager, Northwest Division, succeeding Don Maze who retired June 4.

Jackson most recently served as assistant vice president, merchandise and grain operations. BNSF plans soon to name Jackson's successor.

On June 6, BNSF had named Janssen Thompson Northwest Division general manager, effective June 16. But Powder River Division General Manager Joe Yeager recently decided to leave the railroad and the Class I pegged Thompson as his successor, BNSF officials said.

Since December 2002, Thompson has served OmniTRAX Inc. as vice president of operations. He previously held various positions at BNSF after joining the railroad in 1988 as a management trainee, including trainmaster, terminal manager and terminal superintendent until 1996.

In 1997, Thompson was named superintendent of corridor operations and later was promoted to assistant general superintendent of transportation. In 1998, he was named superintendent of BNSF's Minnesota Division, later serving as the Gulf Division's general director of transportation between October 2001 and December 2002.
