RailTrends 2017 adds speakers from CP, CSX, NS

RailTrends® today announced an updated agenda for this year's two-day conference, which will be held Nov. 30-Dec. 1 at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City.

Sponsored by Progressive Railroading, the conference has added the following speakers, all of whom represent Class Is:

• John Brooks, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Canadian Pacific. Brooks was appointed to his current role Feb. 14. During his sales and marketing career, he has held senior responsibilities in all lines of business. He began his railroading career with Union Pacific Railroad, and later helped start I&M Rail Link LLC, which was purchased by the Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad in 2002.
• Michael Rutherford, vice president-industrial products for CSX. Prior to his current role, Rutherford served as assistant vice president-industrial products. He also has served as director of CSX's "Voice of the Customer" insights team and director of marketing, during which time he helped launch the UMAX interline container program.
• John Scheib, vice president-law, Norfolk Southern Railway. Prior to joining NS in 2005, Scheib served in all three branches of the federal government including a stint as chief of staff and counsel to the chairman of the Surface Transportation Board.

The only event of its kind in North America, the conference brings together high-ranking freight-rail professionals to discuss and debate trending topics in the industry. Registration and more information is available on the RailTrends website. A discount on the cost to register is available until Sept. 29.
