Conference Board of Canada honors former CN leader Tellier

Today, former CN President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Tellier will receive The Conference Board of Canada's honorary associate award during a ceremony in Montreal.

The annual award recognizes a person who has served both their organization and country “with distinction,” officials at the board — a non-profit research organization — said in a prepared statement.

During his tenure at CN from 1992 to 2002, Tellier helped transform the Class I from a crown corporation to a publicly traded company and “one of the most efficient rail systems on the continent,” board officials said. He later served as CEO of Bombardier Corp. in 2003 and 2004.

From 1996 to 1998, Tellier was chairman of The Conference Board of Canada; he served on its board from 1993 to 2000. In May, Tellier was inducted into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame.

“Outstanding business executive, respected senior public servant, corporate director par excellence, transformational leader, charismatic personality — Paul Tellier is all of these," said Conference Board of Canada President and CEO Anne Golden.
