St. Louis Metro, contractor joint venture settle lawsuit

advertisement

It's taken several years, but St. Louis' Metro and the Cross County Collaborative (CCC) have settled a lawsuit stemming from a light-rail extension project.

A joint venture comprising Parsons Brinckerhoff, Jacob Civil Inc., STV Inc. and Kwame Building Group, CCC had served as the general contractor for Metro's Cross County MetroLink extension. In 2004, the agency fired and later sued CCC for alleged project delays and cost overruns; in turn, CCC counter-sued Metro for failing to compensate the joint venture for completed work.

In late November, a jury returned verdicts in favor of CCC and awarded the joint venture $2.5 million on its breach-of-contract claims.

Now, Metro announced it will honor the jury's decision and not appeal the judgment, and will settle all of CCC's claims for a total payment of $6 million.
