On April 20, the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas (METRO) named Frank Wilson president and chief executive officer to succeed Shirley DeLibero, who is retiring after helming the agency for more than five years.

With more than 30 years’ experience in public and private sectors of the transit industry, Wilson most recently served as president of international engineering and construction management consulting firm AECOM Enterprises. He previously served as transportation commissioner for the state of New Jersey, general manager of Bay Area Rapid Transit, and deputy director of mass transit systems in Philadelphia and Chicago.

Wilson will lead METRO through a $7.5 billion expansion of the authority’s light-rail line, which opened Jan. 1. Plans include adding 64 additional light-rail track miles, eight commuter-rail miles, and nine new Park & Rides and transit centers.
