Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) on Sept. 10 marked the end of construction of the new Dos Rios light-rail station on the Blue Line with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Construction on the station began in November 2024. The project received $42.8 million in state and federal funding to support construction, safe access improvements and the surrounding redevelopment.
Located along North 12th Street between Richards Boulevard and Sunbeam Avenue, the station will serve residents of the River District, including several new affordable housing communities, SacRT officials said in a press release.
“This is more than just a new stop on the Blue Line. The Dos Rios Station is a vital connection for the River District, linking housing, jobs and services,” said Sacramento Mayor Kevin McCarty. “With the new stadium, hospital and concert venue underway, the River District is growing fast and will drive major economic development. We’re laying the groundwork to meet our future with equity, sustainability and connectivity.”
Passenger service will begin once the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has completed its regulatory certification review. Once CPUC approval is granted, SacRT will announce the official opening date.
