Jacob Craig was promoted to director of engineering and project oversight for the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT).

Before the promotion, he worked on the Southeast High Speed Rail Corridor Tier II environmental impact studies in Virginia and North Carolina, DRPT officials said in a press release.

Craig began working at DRPT in 2007, and has helped oversee many rail and transit design and construction projects since. Additionally, he's provided technical support for the agency's federally mandated state safety oversight program for rail transit systems in Virginia.

Prior to joining DRPT, he worked in consulting. He has an extensive background in civil engineering with a focus on transportation, DRPT officials said.
