Premier Alliance's revised East Coast 3 container service will benefit the Jacksonville Port Authority (Jaxport), which now has become the first Southeast U.S. port that ships will call on.

Run weekly by Ocean Network Express, HMM and Yang Ming, the revised service reduces transit time between Asia and Jaxport by as much as five days, Jaxport officials said in a press release.

Vessels on the service call the newly modernized Jaxport container terminal at Blout Island. The ONE Mackinac, the first vessel to run the revised port potation, called Jaxport on July 7.

The Blout Island terminal is undergoing a $72 million expansion project, which is nearly completed, Jaxport officials said. The expansion will add 97 acres of new paving and an upgraded terminal gate system.

Jaxport is served daily by CSX and Norfolk Southern Railway, as well as Florida East Coast Railway
