Valley Metro's rail board names Williams chair
Valley Metro's rail board has elected Thelda Williams as chair.
Since late May, she has served as interim mayor of Phoenix. Williams also has chaired the Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority's (RPTA) board.
The agency's rail board also elected Robin Arredondo-Savage as vice chair. She serves as vice mayor of Tempe, Arizona.
Valley Metro Rail plans, constructs, operates and maintains the agency's light-rail system. Its board is composed of elected officials from the agency's five member cities who provide policy direction for rail service, Valley Metro officials said in a press release.
Meanwhile, Valley Metro RPTA's board elected Lauren Tolmachoff as chair and Kevin Hartke as vice chair. The board tapped Williams to serve as treasurer.
The RPTA board is composed of elected officials from 17 municipalities and Maricopa County, Arizona.
