The Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad (R&N) has announced Senior Vice President of Coal Marketing Bill Clark will retire May 31. He entered the rail industry in 1981 as a member of Canadian Pacific’s marketing department and joined R&N in 2016. To manage the coal group after Clark departs, the regional has appointed Jim Cerulli VP of coal business development and Mike Sharadin, VP of coal sourcing. Both assumed coal team roles in 2023.
CPKC yesterday announced former Canadian Pacific Ltd. Chairman and CEO William Stinson died May 1 in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was 92. Stinson joined Canadian Pacific Railway when he was 16, launching a more than four-decade CP career. In 1988, he became chairman, president and CEO — the youngest CEO in the railroad’s history — and he served in those roles until his retirement in 1996. To recognize his long service, CPKC recently renamed a MacTier Subdivision location in the Toronto area after Stinson. “A fourth-generation railroader and highly regarded Canadian business leader, Bill made many important contributions to our railway, the history of our company and this nation. He will be deeply missed,” said CPKC President and CEO Keith Creel in a press release.
The Short Line Safety Institute (SLSI) announced Pinsly Railroad General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer Kristin Bevil has been appointed chair to succeed R. J. Corman Railroad Group President and CEO Justin Broyles, who completed his term. Bevil, who joined SLSI’s board in 2024, will hold the position ex-officio while serving as vice chair of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad’s board. SLSI also announced that Watco Vice President of Safety Brad Walker has joined its board. He was named a Progressive Railroading Rising Star in 2020.
HDR has named Scott Jarvis the transportation program management lead for its U.S. west region. Based in Sacramento, California, he will be charged with gathering knowledge and expertise from across HDR’s program management practices to provide multidisciplinary programs across transportation markets in 11 states. Jarvis has nearly four decades of experience leading major transportation and public infrastructure programs and most recently held senior leadership positions with the California High-Speed Rail Authority and California Department of Transportation.
