GHH-Bonatrans is set to establish its first North American rail wheelset production facility in Steuben County, New York, under the brand Bonatrans North America Inc.

The wheelset, axle and component manufacturing company currently has operations in the Czech Republic and Germany. Bonatrans is investing up to $93 million to shift its production closer to its North American customers, New York government officials said in a press release.

Construction on the facility is slated to begin this year, with operations planned to launch in late 2028.

Bonatrans has committed to creating up to 85 new jobs at the facility; in exchange, New York will provide $1.3 million in support for the project through the Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit program, state officials said.

New York has also awarded a $16.9 million POWER UP grant to the Steuben County Industrial Development Agency to support growth at the Wayland Business Park, where the Bonatrans facility will be located.
