STV Inc. last week announced the promotions of Liz Staryak, Albert Wong and Robert Vaz to vice president roles. Staryak will now serve as VP and engineering director. She most recently oversaw Amtrak's East River Tunnel rehabilitation project as deputy project manager. Wong currently leads STV's New York State Department of Transportation construction inspection group; Vaz leads STV's NYSDOT construction inspection and Amtrak construction inspection groups.
Burns Engineering Inc. has acquired Pacific Railway Enterprises Inc. (PRE), a California-based rail and light-rail signaling design and engineering firm. PRE provides services for major public rail systems across Southern California. The acquisition reflects Burns' continued focus on expanding its rail and transit capabilities through partnerships, Burns officials said in a press release.
Stadler has delivered the first nine FLIRT trainsets of a 75-trainset order to Koleje Mazowieckie, a passenger-rail operator in Poland. The five-car electric multiple unit trainsets will begin running on select routes this month. Stadler plans to deliver a total of 53 trainsets to Kaleje Mazowieckie in 2026. The contracts include ongoing maintenance and training, Stadler officials said in a press release. Stadler Polska is manufacturing the trainsets at its Siedlce facility.
Vossloh has been awarded a more than $45 million contract by the California High-Speed Rail Authority for the supply of 335,000 concrete ties and rail fastening systems for about 119 miles of track. Vossloh's Pueblo, Colorado, facility will manufacture the ties and deliver them starting in third-quarter 2026, Vossloh officials said in a press release.
KB Signaling Inc. has deployed 800 of its AFTC5 digital audio frequency track circuits in revenue service across U.S. transit systems. The milestone exemplifies how many transit agencies are modernizing their aging systems without full shutdowns of wholesale replacement, KB Signaling officials said in a press release. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, for example, is currently phasing in AFTC5 circuits across two transit lines with completion targeting for the end of the year.
