OmniTRAX Inc. today announced the year-end retirement of co-CEO Dean Piacente, culminating in the company's planned leadership succession.
Piacente was named CEO of OmniTRAX on Feb. 1, 2021. During his tenure, the leadership team set company records in service, safety, and achieved an operational efficiency best among peers, OmniTRAX officials said in a press release.
Colby Tanner, the former BNSF Railway executive appointed OmniTRAX co-CEO earlier this year in a planned leadership succession, assumes full company leadership on Jan. 1.
Piacente’s company rebrand was instrumental in the company’s record increase in new industrial projects that incorporate rail service into the design-build process, OmniTRAX officials said. As CEO, he managed the daily operations of the company’s railroads, terminal services, transload services and industrial development.
Named to the OmniTRAX board in January, Piacente's focus will shift to using his extensive eastern U.S. rail experience, relationships and knowledge to support the company’s east region growth strategy, OmniTRAX officials said.
"Over the past five years, OmniTRAX has grown nearly 60% while attracting $5 billion of Fortune 500 company structures to the rail network," said Piacente. "The strategic additions of new railroads, ports, industrial parks, and partners position OmniTRAX well for sustained growth. Our board has been invaluable to our continued network growth, and I’m excited to build on that momentum and provide Colby and the team with the resources to thrive.”
