NS names two finance department execs, retains four board members

Yesterday, Norfolk Southern Corp. announced it appointed William Galanko vice president of financial planning and Robert Kesler Jr., vice president of taxation. Both will assume their posts June 1 and report to Executive VP of Finance and Public Affairs James Hixon.

Most recently VP of taxation, Galanko joined NS in 1990 as a general tax attorney. Prior to NS, he served the Internal Revenue Service’s Office of Chief Counsel in various capacities.

Kesler has served as a general tax attorney since joining NS in 1991. He previously held various finance law positions with the U.S. Tax Court, law firm Kaufman & Canoles and the IRS.

NS also announced the re-election of four board members: NS President Charles “Wick” Moorman; Gerald Baliles, a partner in law firm of Hunton & Williams and former Virginia governor; Gene Carter, executive director and chief executive officer of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development; and J. Paul Reason, president and chief operating officer of Metro Machine Corp.
