Angela Miller, chief technology officer and chief sustainability officer for the North County Transit District (NCTD), has been named one of Computerworld magazine’s “Premier 100 Information Technology Leaders” for 2012.
The magazine, which covers the information technology industry, releases the list annually. Miller was honored along with top IT executives from major corporations such as Boeing and Motorola, NCTD officials said in a prepared statement.
Miller left a global Fortune 100 company four years ago to join NCTD because she wanted to do more than “make widgets because they’re cool,” she said.
NCTD achievements spearheaded by Miller include: securing funds to install four solar projects estimated to save NCTD $1 million in operational energy costs in the first five years; building the Green Data Center, estimated to save the agency $30,000 in energy costs in the first year; and launching wireless Internet and electronic ticketing systems on the Coaster commuter-rail line.
