Siemens Mobility yesterday announced the appointment of Yves Desjardins-Siciliano as Canadian chief executive officer for Siemens Mobility Ltd.

Desjardins-Siciliano is the former president and CEO of VIA Rail Canada Inc., where he was responsible for managing over 3,300 employees moving nearly 5 million passengers per year. He also served as VIA Rail’s chief corporate and legal officer.

Prior to that, Desjardins-Siciliano held positions at IBM Canada, the Canadian government’s Ministry of Labor and Transport and Bell Mobility.

“With deep industry knowledge and demonstrated customer focus, Yves is well-positioned to grow Siemens Mobility in Canada. He is a visionary executive who understands how we can help Canadian cities and transportation operators transform their operations to meet the needs of tomorrow,” said Marc Buncher, CEO of Siemens Mobility in North America, in a press release.
