The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will open a newly constructed train station in Windsor Locks on Oct. 18. The station will be served by CT Rail and Amtrak trains.
The new station relocates passenger-rail service from south of downtown to a more central location near Main Street, CTDOT officials said in a press release. The station will be a stop on Amtrak’s Hartford Line, Northeast Regional, Valley Flyer and Vermonter routes, and on CT Rail’s Hartford Line.
The new station features a 500-foot platform with fully accessible level boarding, and a 9,500-square-foot station utility building supports operations and passenger access. Passenger amenities include heated waiting areas, an electric snow melting system, Wi-Fi, ticket vending machines, passenger information displays and emergency call boxes.
The investment supports Main Street revitalization and builds on nearby housing developments and planned transit-oriented development, CTDOT officials said.
