• Sao Paulo, Brazil’s Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) recently awarded Ansaldo STS USA a $9.3 million contract to supply an Automatic Train Operation (ATO) upgrade for lines 7, 9 and 12 of CPTM’s transit network. During a two-year period, the existing wayside communications also will be upgraded using data radios and transponders. The contract also requires the supplier to install the wayside ATO functionality on Line 9, with the goal of ensuring interoperability along all three lines. Brazil-based Trends Engenharia e Infraestrutura will supply the material and install Ansaldo STS USA’s wayside equipment.
• Iowa Northern Railway recently extended its contract with RailComm to supply a computerized track warrant control system. The supplier’s Domain Operations Controller (DOC®) dark territory train control system is a Web-enabled, software-as-a-service offering that serves as a “pay-as-you-go” model, eliminating “capital equipment procurement constraints,” according to a RailComm statement.
• Nomad Digital received a five-year contract to provide broadband services to NS Intercity trains in the Netherlands. Working with T-Mobile, Nomad will provide passenger information and WiFi services, as well as design, operate and maintain the underlying information and communications infrastructure on 187 NS Intercity trains. The pact includes an option for an additional five years.
• ISIS Consultants L.L.C. recently added Robert Kocar to its engineering team. Kocar, who has worked in the railroad signal segment for the past 15 years in positions of increasing responsibility, will serve as a senior engineer in the company’s Denver operation.
• ChemLogix L.L.C. recently promoted Francis Ezeuzoh to chief financial officer. He joined ChemLogix a year ago with a resume that included stints as vice president of finance for Zinsser Co. Inc., and more than 20 years at Solvay Solexis Inc. in such positions as financial analyst, VP of finance and CFO.
