Yesterday, Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) reported that while overall April ridership remained relatively flat, trips taken on both the WES commuter-rail system and MAX light-rail system posted gains compared with the same period in 2009.

Overall April weekday ridership totaled 323,000 trips, down 0.9 percent from April 2009's level. Overall weekend ridership declined 0.8 percent to 351,700 trips.

However, MAX light-rail weekday ridership jumped 11.7 percent to 119,600 trips while weekend trips rose 11.7 percent to 161,400 trips. WES commuter-rail ridership was up 7.7 percent at 1,260 trips.
