advertisement
The Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corp. (Metra) is wrapping up expansion projects on three lines and will begin operating additional trains and adding stops.
The agency extended the Union Pacific West line nine miles from Geneva to Elburn, and added a third main track. On Jan. 23, the agency will add stops in LaFox and Elburn.
Metra also extended the SouthWest Service line from Orland Park to Manhattan. On Jan. 30, the agency will increase the total number of weekday trains running on the line from 16 to 30.
Also on Jan. 30, the agency will begin serving new stations in Grayslake, Rosemont, Schiller Park and Franklin Park on its North Central Service line, which Metra upgraded to double the number of weekday trains running from the line’s terminus in Antioch to Union Station from 10 to 20.
