BNSF reaches tentative labor pact with TCU intermodal group

BNSF Railway Co. yesterday announced it reached a tentative five-year collective bargaining agreement with members of the Transportation Communications Union (TCU) intermodal group.
The new tentative agreement covers 791 employees and provides covered members unprecedented certainty about upcoming enhancements to their pay, health care and vacation, BNSF officials said in a press release.
The tentative contract calls for a 3.5% average wage increase per year over the next five years. It also offers TCU members more vacation earlier in their career.
Late last year, The National Carriers Conference announced the ratification of a national collective bargaining agreement with TCU’s clerical employees. This agreement follows the same terms as the national pattern. Forty-five percent of BNSF’s workforce and 10 of the 13 represented unions are now covered by either ratified or tentative agreements, company officials said.
