Kansas City Southern yesterday announced it raised more than $215,000 from its 2022 Holiday Express train.
The funds will go to The Salvation Army in 20 communities and eight states across the KCS network, KCS officials said in a press release. Nearly 48,000 people visited train stops during the train's three-week run between Shreveport, Louisiana, and Kansas City.
The Holiday Express was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, but its return — and the return of other holiday trains — was announced earlier this year.
Since 2000, the Holiday Express has raised more than $3.1 million for The Salvation Army, KCS officials said.
"The Holiday Express remains an important expression of KCS' commitment to the communities we serve," said President and CEO Patrick Ottensmeyer.
