The Port of Los Angeles has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Yantian International Container Terminals and Shenzhen Port Group, in Shenzhen, China, Port of L.A. officials announced in a press release.

The MOU formalizes the relationship between the organizations as a “sister port” partnership, which will provide a framework for cooperation in sustainable technologies and clean energy, port operations, maritime innovation, logistics and supply chain development.

"This agreement creates new opportunities to share innovation, advance sustainable port operations and build more resilient supply chains,” said Port of L.A. Executive Director Gene Seroka. “Together, we're helping shape a cleaner, more efficient future for global trade.”

The agreement was signed in Shenzhen during the Global Supply Chain High-Quality Development Conference, which drew representatives from ports, ocean carriers, cargo owners, manufacturers, government agencies and industry associations.

At the conference, Port of L.A. officials also joined in launching the International Green Shipping Corridor Cooperation Initiative, which seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while supporting more sustainable global supply chains. The Port of L.A. has established Green Shipping Corridor agreements with partners in Shanghai and Guangzhou in China; Tokyo, Yokohama and Nagoya in Japan; Singapore and Vietnam.

The Port of L.A. is served by Pacific Harbor Line, which provides on-dock rail service to the port's marine terminals and interchanges with BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad.
