Rail News: CSX Transportation
CSX Transportation recently promoted Francis Chinnici to vice president of purchasing. He will be responsible for purchasing activities and product quality, and managing the railroad's materials, supply chain and inventory.
Chinnici — who has more than 15 years' experience in railway purchasing — previously held various management positions in purchasing and materials, mechanical, service design, engineering and mechanical standards, and quality control.
"[Chinnici] will work with suppliers on total cost initiatives and to develop strategic partnerships," said CSX Corp. Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Oscar Munoz in a prepared statement.
Chinnici also will oversee Incentive Management Process Addressing Costs Together (IMPACT), a program CSXT launched last year to improve its supply chain, and identify new products and services to reduce purchasing and material costs.
