Chicago-based rail car lessor Modern Rail Capital (MRC) today announced Kevin McHugh will serve as the company's new president effective Sept. 1. He will succeed Kevin Cook, who has been the company's president since 2021. Cook will serve as an advisor to the MRC board.
McHugh joined MRC in August. He most recently was senior vice president of sales at Wells Fargo Rail, has previously held senior leadership roles at GE Capital Rail Services and served as a commander in the U.S. Navy, MRC officials said in a press release.
Cook played a key role in shaping MRC's customer-focused culture and establishing a strong foundation for continued growth. Finding someone who can sustain that culture was critical in the search for his replacement, said Cook.
“The thing I am most proud of over the last five years is the team we have built here at MRC and the focus that we have placed on the customer,” he said. “[McHugh] stood out amongst the candidates from a personality perspective, from an approach, and knowledge to be able to continue that culture.”
