Americold today began operations at its new import-export hub at Port Saint John in New Brunswick, Canada. The facility was developed in collaboration with stevedore partner DP World and CPKC to streamline global movement of temperature-controlled products.

The opening of the new cold-storage facility marks a milestone in CPKC's growing collaboration with Americold, said Keith Creel, CPKC president and CEO, in a press release.

The hub is the only temperature-controlled storage solution in eastern Canada directly connected to a port without drayage, eliminating the need to transport cargo between vessel and warehouse. Located at one of the continent's fastest-growing trade gateways, the facility will support cargo flow between central and eastern Canada and Europe, South America and the Asia-Pacific region, Americold officials said.

By combining terminal operations, inland rail connectivity and about 22,000 cold-storage pallet positions, the hub helps reinforce the port as a growing gateway for global containerized shipping, they added.

"Americold is a tremendous addition to Port Saint John and to the broader trade ecosystem taking shape at our gateway," said Craig Bell Estabrooks, president and CEO of Port Saint John. "Their import-export hub on the waterfront strengthens our role in enabling trade diversification and driving economic prosperity in New Brunswick and beyond."
