BNSF: Piggott to assume CFO reins after Hund retires next year

BNSF Railway Co.'s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Tom Hund plans to retire in first-quarter 2014. He will be succeeded by VP of Planning and Studies and Controller Julie Piggott, BNSF officials announced yesterday.

The Class I's CFO since 1999, Hund began his rail industry career in 1983 with the Santa Fe Pacific. He has held multiple senior management and financial positions at BNSF and its predecessor Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, including senior VP, and VP and controller.

Hund's leadership and "strategic thinking" have been critical to the company's growth, said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Matt Rose in a press release.

"As a longstanding member of the executive team, he also played a formative role in shaping BNSF's 'Vision & Values' and 'Leadership Model,' and in building core aspects of our culture," Rose said.

Piggott has been VP of planning and studies and controller since 2009. Since joining BNSF in 1991, she also has served as VP of finance and treasurer, assistant VP of strategic and financial analysis, AVP of expedited services-consumer products, and AVP and assistant controller. Piggott previously held positions at Ernst & Young and Corporate BancServices.
