Amtrak yesterday restored direct rail rail service on the Lake Shore Limited route between Albany-Rensselaer, New York, and Boston after several months of substitute bus service between the cities.

Earlier this year, a landslip near Albany, New York, forced the closure of the Post Road Branch, temporarily replacing trains with buses. Amtrak crews worked six days a week, 10 hours per day, to restore the service, Amtrak officials said in a press release.

The Lake Shore Limited stops daily in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, allowing guests to travel to the Berkshires by rail. Riders on the scenic line can travel on a train departing Boston at 12:50 p.m. and arriving in Albany at 6:10 p.m.; or a train leaving Albany at 3:27 p.m. and arriving in Boston at 8:32 p.m.
